When we asked the children why is it important to learn the Welsh Language, they told us...
"It's part of my identity."
"Because we live in Wales. It makes me feel proud."
"It's part of history and my heritage."
"Because it's fun."
"To keep it alive."
As proud Welsh learners in the Fern Federation, we wanted to offer the opportunity to share the Welsh Language in the home environment. We have used the local authority's Welsh Continuum to create videos and suggestions of how you can use Welsh in the home. There are also some songs and videos of books being read to rehearse the language patterns.
Please feel free to have a look at your child's year group below, or by all means start from Nursery and work through the patterns.
There's no right or wrong way to use Welsh in the home...you can even add English words into Welsh sentence patterns. The main thing is to have fun and enjoy using the language in a purposeful way to you and your family.
