English - Wednesday 24th February - Oracy

Oracy Task

What does woodland mean to you?

What do you like about woodland? Are you concerned about any aspects of deforestation?

Support - Find fractional quantities linked to known multiplication facts, e.g. 13 of 18, 15 of 15.

Extend - Recognise fractions that are several parts of a whole, e.g. 23, 310.

On Monday you were asked to go on a bug hunt as part of your physical challenge. Think about the bugs you saw or think about another mini beast or animal that you like.

In the next few weeks as part of your writing journey and topic link you will be writing a non-chronological report about an animal / mini beast of your choice.

Use this science time to research your animal/mini beast to help with writing your non-chronological report.

When researching think about these key points and write your research underneath.

REMEMBER write your findings in your OWN WORDS

  • Animal name
  • What do they look like?
  • What do they eat?
  • Where do they live?
  • Do they hibernate?
  • How do they protect themselves?
  • Where did they come from?
  • How do they move?
  • Life span?
  • Size/ length/weight?
  • Interesting facts

Forest Bathing

This Japanese practice is a process of relaxation; known in Japan as shinrin yoku. The simple method of being calm and quiet amongst the trees, observing nature around you whilst breathing deeply can help both adults and children de-stress and boost health and wellbeing in a natural way. Follow the tips and don't forget to let us know how you get along!
