Autumn 1 Topic - Off with her Head!

For our topic over this term we will be looking at back over the past and looking at 'The Tudors' (1485-1603). Throughout this topic we will be learning about:

  • About the every day life of the Tudors
  • The Kings and Queens of the Tudor period
  • Henry VIII and his six vides 
  • The Battle of Bosworth 
  • The meaning of the Tudor Rose 
  • A real life court case!
  • Timetabling events during that time 
  • Re-creating The Battle of Bosworth


Autumn 2 Topic – Technotastic!

We will be looking at:

  • How technology has changed
  • What did they used to have as technology in the olden days?
  • Questionnaire for pupils in school
  • Pupils for parents - What do you think of technology?
  • Using Minecraft - Creating a Techno House
  • What would happen to the world if technology took over?


Spring 1 Topic - Bend and Flow


This project has a geography focus and teaches children about rivers, rainfall, soils and the impact of water on the local community and communities. At the heart of this project the children will learn to write poetry on a rivers theme and develop additional skills in persuasive and report writing.

In this project the children will learn:
• About significant rivers of Wales;

• To use a range of geographical skills to investigate the physical
features of rivers, including the water cycle, and to consider the impact these features might have on the landscape over time and in specific locations;
• To develop investigative fieldwork skills;

• To use ICT and other sources to find, record and present information. 


Spring 2 Topic - Beast Creator


Our topic for this half term is all about Beast Creator.This project has a science focus which teaches you about the life cycles and habitats, body parts and functions of different mini-beasts in the locality and beyond.

We will be learning about:

  • About the characteristics, life cycles and habitats of a range of insects and mini-beasts
  • To design a unique mini-beast based on what you have learnt about mini-beast body parts
  • To use design technology skills effectively to make a model of a robo-bug
  • Writing your own non-chronological reports on a mini-beast of your choice
  • Measuring sizing of mini-beast homes
  • Going on your own mini-beast hunt!

 Summer 1 Topic – What a Wonderful World!


Our topic this half term is all about Wales and what a wonderful world it is.

In this project we will learn:

  • About the locations of the ‘Wonders of the World’, including the countries that they are located in and about their geographical, historical and cultural significance;
  • About different categories of wonders of the world including the natural, ancient and modern world;
  • How to use maps, plans, data and information to find out about a range of places;
  • How to write narrative stories in a range of settings;
  • How to use geographical and historical knowledge in a creative way;
  • How to use multimedia and ICT to present information.



Summer 2 Topic - Champions!

Our topic this half term will be 'Champions'.

In this project the children will learn:

  • About the different parts and functions of the human body including different muscle groups 
  • How the heart works 
  • The effects that different things has on the body 
  • About the importance of healthy eating and exercise
  • About team work, competition, perseverance and what makes a champion
  • Using excel to record data and take part in sport
