Week 1 - Finishing Kennings Writing Journey
Since returning to school, we have been learning all about the book 'Only One You' by Linda Kranz. We have been building up to writing a kenning poem about a friend or family member and titling it 'Only One You'. This week we are in the stages of creating the kenning poem.
Planning - follow the template to help layer sections of the kenning.
Draft 1 of the kenning poem.
Self assess the poem using the Class Built Success Criteria.
Up-level part of the kenning poem using an 'Edit Box'.
Here we would be presenting the poem to the rest of the class, as an alternative your child could post a video of them reading/presenting their kenning poem via Seesaw.
Week 2 - Beginning Diary Writing Journey
The next Writing Journey will be focusing on diary writing.
Hook - be given a notepad left by the Learning Fairy that she wants to be used as a diary for the next two weeks. Read the letter she leaves to know what she is expecting of you.
What is a diary? - Look at an example of a diary and discuss what they can see. The aim of this lesson is to identify main features of a diary.
Reading - Complete a comprehension task based on the example provided.
First person narrative - Follow the activity sheet.
Punctuation - capital letters at the start of sentences and for the use of 'I'.
