Craig Yr Hesg Primary School

Together we can make a difference

Important Information

A warm welcome Dosbarth Wye!

Here is some information for you about Reception & Craig Yr Hesg Primary School.

School starts at 9.15 am, the door will be open until 9.25 and if for any reason your child is late please could you enter the school via the main reception. You will need to collect your child at 2.50pm, the class room door will be open for 10 minutes and then your child will be taken to reception where they can be collected.  Please note that no dogs are allowed on school grounds.

In an attempt to encourage a collective identity all pupils should wear full school uniform – but we do warn you in advance that they will not always come home as clean as they arrive “It’s not dirt it’s learning!” In addition to this your child will need a coat every day because we play in all weathers.  Please can you write your child’s name on their belongings to ensure they do not get lost.  PE will be on a Tuesday so on this day please can your child wear PE kit to school: a white t-shirt, black bottoms and trainers.

Due to the current circumstances we are no longer able to provide snack. Please can your child carry their snack into school (separate to their lunch box) labelled with their name. We are a “Healthy School” and encourage eating healthy Snacks. Please can you provide a bottle of water that they can drink from throughout the day, as well as their drink in their packed lunch.

Currently all children will have to have packed lunch, Children in receipt of Free School Meals will receive a packed lunch from the school.

Mrs Rebecca Davies & Mrs Liz Morris Are the school administrators, and the school telephone number is 01443 486830. Please let us know if your child is going to be absent for any reason. Also it is important that we know of any changes in your personal details e.g. new home address or telephone number. Also please let us know if someone different is collecting your child from school as we will ask for their password.

Dates for the year and all important information will be on the school’s website: there is also a class area for our class which has support for Literacy and Maths and there will be updates of what we do in the school year. There is also a Facebook page which is run by the parents and will be used to share information. However, any opinions shared will be these of the parents and not of the school.

Homework will be set every Friday Via SeeSaw. SeeSaw can be accessed by a Smart phone, tablet, computer or laptop. If you do not have access to these please let Miss Wookey know so I can arrange paper homework. Additionally the children will have folders that will be given out every Friday and are due back in school on a Wednesday. Your child will need to bring this into class and place it in the homework tray ready for staff to change reading books, check their tricky words and phonics books.

We will provide your child with a reading book when we feel they are ready to enjoy reading and decoding. In the meantime, we encourage parents to read a range of material with their children to model how fantastic reading is.

We have attached a separate letter regarding a consent form which need to be returned asap.

Due to the current situation we are unable to take children off parents as parents cannot enter the building. If you need to talk to Miss Wookey privately you will now have to arrange a phone consultation.

If you have any questions regarding any of the above, or any other matters, please do not hesitate to contact the school or talk to the class teacher, Miss Wookey or Jackie. Unless urgent please can this be at the end of the school day when we have more time.

For further information please see the Parent Handbook.
