Every Friday we send out our reading folders and release our homework online.
We kindly ask that the folders are returned to school by Tuesday (at the latest), so we can prepare the folder again for Friday. We appreciate that sometimes there are weeks when things are busy and not enough time outside of school to complete the tasks, or a folder may get misplaced. Please do not worry if this is the case...if you get in touch with Miss Lewis, we can arrange a replacement.
Your homework folder will contain:
Your child's reading book is based upon their reading and comprehension level. It's important that your child is able to read the book, but also understand and explain what is going on in the story.
Please use the green reading record to note down reading sessions with your child.
There will be a weekly spelling task on SeeSaw that is designed for children to practice their words but also put them into a sentence to help them understand the context of the word.
Your child can use their Hwb password to access a fantastic game called "Spellblast" - on here they will be able to beat their own score to improve their spellings.
This will mainly be a mathematical activity for children to have a go at, however there will be special occasions where we might send something topical (e.g. Remembrance Day).
We will occasionally send home flashcards with high frequency words/sounds for your child to practice at home. They will need to be able to read these words at sight quickly.
Any questions or queries, please see Miss Lewis.
